Don’t want to carry around loads of cash? There is an alternative solution to using cash – using gift cards. Using gift cards could be the solution for controlling your spending. Each time you get paid, go to each store you have budgeted for and purchase or reload a gift card. When you go shopping, use those gift cards as payment. Ask for the printout of the remaining card balance to keep track. Most stores also offer online services that assist you track what you spend.
Tracking The Dollars and Cents.
Checking where you stand is important, regardless of the method you use to keep on budget. It might take extra work, but by tracking where your money goes you will be able to keep your budget realistic. Re-evaluate what you have budgeted for each item every few months. Work with a spreadsheet, written ledger, or budget program. Once a day or each week, you should make it a point to sit down and record your expenses.
